The Paris Olympics are dazzling audiences around the world

with a spectacular display at the Grand Palace, transforming it into a breathtaking stadium to showcase the best in fencing. The lighting around the pistes was designed and made by Leon Paul for the London games in 2012.

Remarkably, these lights have operated flawlessly for over a decade illuminating and elevating the spectacle of three Olympic Games and countless other top tier fencing competitions.

We designed these lights with durability in mind to make a lasting change to the presentation of fencing on the global stage. This fits in with our policy to constantly reduce our environmental impact by building products that can be repaired, maintained and last for the longest possible time. This philosophy extends to all our products, which is why it's not uncommon to find our gear in use for more than 20 years. Clubs are still able to repair scoring boxes that were made almost 40 years ago!

With the Olympic Games taking place in the historic and spiritual home of fencing, the understanding and enthusiasm for the sport of fencing from the audience have reached unprecedented levels. This engagement and participation have created some of the most vibrant and passionate crowds ever seen at a fencing match. The atmosphere in the venue has been nothing short of electrifying. The large French crowds, predominantly supporting their home athletes, have shown incredible sportsmanship, engaging enthusiastically even when no French fencers were competing.

The spectacle has been nothing short of magical. Fencing has seen medal winners from across the globe, showcasing its evolution from a predominantly European sport to a truly global competition. The diversity of winners highlights the sport’s growing popularity and competitive spirit worldwide. https://olympics.com/en/paris-2024/medals/fencing

Paris has proven to be an exceptional host for the Olympic Games. The restriction of traffic has made the city easy to navigate, allowing large crowds to visit and admire its stunning landmarks. Iconic locations like the Grand Palais have provided unique and breathtaking backdrops for the events, setting these games apart from previous editions.

As the fencing events draw to a close, there’s a palpable excitement in the air for the remaining sports. Paris has set a high standard, and we’re already looking forward to the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles. But first, we eagerly anticipate the upcoming Paralympics, where more incredible athletic feats and inspiring stories await.
