Firstly, I want to say thank you to the twenty fencers who showed faith in us and placed pre-orders to make this product possible.

My first exposure to 3D printing was way back in 2011 when you were limited to grainy inaccurate prints of no more than 5cm on a side.

The technology has moved on immeasurably since then and the Sub Zer0 handle is an amazing blend of cutting-edge design and bleeding-edge manufacture!

We have created this product because it represents the absolute pinnacle of what is possible using current technology. As a company we believe in driving the sport forward and we are constantly looking for ways to improve. I appreciate that this is not a mainstream product and will have limited uptake but what it offers is a glimpse into the future.

Some time, not that far away we will be printing products where they are needed rather than shipping them around the world. Designers will be free from the constraints of traditional machining, and we will be printing everything from car parts to fencing handles at their point of use.

The design is both beautiful as it is functional. Generative design influenced by the shapes and structures found in nature allowed us to put material only where it was necessary for the performance of the handle. Through the outer mesh you can see the internal structural reinforcements and the surface provides an incredible grip which your glove becomes one with giving incredible control.

The Sub Zer0 handle is printed using a powerful laser to melt powdered titanium. The end result is a handle that weighs around one third of the weight of a normal aluminium handle of the same size.

I hope that the people that purchase this limited run of handles enjoy owning them as much as I have enjoyed creating them.

If this short run sells well then, we may make more available and make them in other sizes and for left-handed fencers.
