Welcome to the Leon Paul guide for fencing enthusiasts looking ahead to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. As we edge closer to these historic games, it's the perfect time to dive into our beautiful sport of Olympic fencing, explore the iconic venue set to host the event and how to secure your spot in the stands.

Venue Spotlight: Grand Palais:
The Paris 2024 Olympic fencing events will be held at the Grand Palais, an iconic landmark in Paris, that was inaugurated in 1900 for the Universal Exposition. Designed by Henri Deglane, Albert Louvet, and Albert Thomas, this architectural marvel showcases French art and innovation. Over the years, it has hosted numerous exhibitions and cultural events, including the 2010 Fencing World Championships.

A Flashback Through Fencing History in the Olympics:
Fencing is one of only five sports that have been featured at every modern Olympic Games since the first in 1896. Historically dominated by European countries, Olympic fencing has since seen growth in popularity worldwide. The sport includes three main events: foil, épée, and sabre, each with its own unique set of rules and techniques. We have more in-depth blogs on our blog page detailing the differences between each weapon.

Ticketing Information: How to Witness the Action:
Tickets for the 2024 Olympics are in high demand, and fencing, with its large fanbase in France, is no exception. Purchasing an official Olympic ticket is not just about securing a seat; it's your passport to experiencing the world's best fencers compete in real life. However, the only tickets available now are very expensive. We hope that later on, we might see reduced-price tickets come out very close to the event dates. This is what happened at the London Olympics in 2012. Currently, you can buy tickets or "event packages" here:

As Paris prepares to host these monumental games, the anticipation for Olympic fencing continues to build. The video below was from the last fencing event in Paris in January and gives a good idea of how the French fans will be out in full force and make this event truly spectacular:

Whether you're a lifelong fan or new to the sport, witnessing fencing at the Grand Palais promises not just a display of beautiful fencing but a piece of Olympic history.

Another great way to experience the games is via Team (country) Olympic Hospitality Houses. These places are design for fans of that team to gather together and celebrate events together.

This website gives information for every house.

The French house is located here:

La Grande Halle de la Villette
211 Av. Jean Jaurès
75019 Paris

And, we happen to know that some fencing demos will be going over the course of the Olympics.

In 2012 the Brazil house was fantastic fun and is free to entre. Lots of live music and a celebration of all sports can be found here:

Parc de la Villette

Stay tuned for more updates, and prepare to cheer on your favourite fencers in what promises to be a breath-taking addition to the Olympic legacy.
