Please check your bibs before going to weapon control.

At a recent FIE Weapon Control, some Leon Paul X-Change masks were found to have bibs that were too short on the outer edge of the mask. The FIE have helped by clarifying this issue and have created the following rule, which has been added to the list of masks, approved and homologated.

See below:

Liste des masques homologue FIE2025 Mar.pdf

The rule states that the gap between the outer edge of the bib and the outer edge of the channel on both sides of the mask shell should be 5mm or less. (See images below)

If you own an X-Change mask, please check that the gap is less than 5mm before you go to a weapon-controlled event, or it might be refused.

First, check your mask size and check that the bib is designed to fit that mask size.

Once confirmed, centralise the bib in the channel so that any gap is equal on both sides.

Then check to see if the gap looks like it is more than 5mm.

If you are unsure after checking your mask, take a ruler and measure the size of the gap between the bib and the end of the channel.

If after checking your mask you think it is short or you are still not sure, email [email protected] with the subject line: “X-Change Mask Bib Check” and we will help. Alternatively, visit us at a competition or one of our distributors and we can check for you in a matter of seconds.

Any bib that is found to be short on your mask will be replaced free of charge.

This issue affects a fairly small number of bibs and only those sold in the last couple of years. To ensure this does not happen with any future sales of masks or bibs, we have updated the quality control processes used to test masks shells and bibs for compliance.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused, and as always, we will rectify this, with any fencer affected.

We thank the FIE and the SEMI commission for bringing this issue to our attention and helping us rectify it as quickly as possible.
