World Championships for 2003 in Havana

Stunning development
Richard Kruse was placed 8th in the Men's Foil only losing 15/13 to the eventual winner Peter Joppich from Germany in the World Championships in Cuba. He is continuing to develop into one of the top fencing stars and is one of Britain’s biggest chances of winning a world title in the near future. He gave commanding performances in the opening rounds and as he learns to control his passion and desire to win a true champion is emerging. He has trained hard all year with Ziemek at Salle Paul and we have seen him reap the rewards. Congratulations to Richard and all the people who have helped it become such a successful year for the twenty year old.

Continuing success
Louise Bond-Williams also had an excellent result, reaching the last 16 in Women's Sabre and finishing 13th. Louise is still training in America and showed again why she is a serious contender for a international medal soon. She is still only 21 but is showing composure and the determination to succeed. Congratulations Louise.

Other congratulations must go to Camille Datoo for finishing 28th in the Women’s foil and Eloise Smith for finishing 40th in the Women’s foil.
