Get
closer to the action with the Leon Paul Referee Scheme.

What is the junior referee scheme
and why would you want to join it?
The LPJS junior refereeing is an officially recognised
refereeing accreditation for foil that is both fun and
useful. There are loads of reasons to become a junior
referee. The scheme is great fun, will look excellent
on your CV, is a way to kill time between rounds at competition
and last but certainly not least can win you up to £50
in vouchers!
The scheme is for 14-17 yr old fencers with at least
2 years fencing experience and BFA membership and the
training will give you all the skills you need to be able
to take charge of a match and ensure it runs smoothly.
Once you have qualified you will receive a Referees pack
containing an official referees sweater and a ref file
with laminated penalty cards, allen key, log book, pen
and certificate of accreditation.
You will then be able to referee supervised by an adult
at Under 13 events, both LPJS and British Fencing competitions
eg BYCs, regional etc. 16 and 17 yr olds with sufficient
experience will also be able to referee at Under 15 events.
Each time you referee you will gain points and at the
end of the season the person with the most points will
win a voucher worth £50 and second place will be
awarded £25 (other prizes will be allocated if the
scheme is successful enough.)
