James Williams Great Britain’s most successful Sabre fencer in the modern era, is the senior coach and driving force behind the Medway Fencing Centre of Excellence. First British Senior Sabre fencer to make a World Cup Final (1999).
James knows a thing or two about performing at the highest level, he is a three time Olympian:- Barcelona 1992, *Atlanta 1996 and *Sydney 2000 where he achieved the best British result in Sabre Fencing since 1956, reaching the quarter finals (L16). James was also Captain of the Army Fencing Union, Army Champion at Arms (three weapons) and the Combined Services Master Swordsman (three weapons). He is currently the British Olympic Associations Technical Officer, with responsibility for developing excellence in Olympic sports, a role he will relinquish in order to develop the Medway Fencing Centre of Excellence. James Williams was Britain’s sole qualifier for Sabre fencing in the Atlanta and Sydney Olympics.
